Notable Lodi Wineries and Their Signature Wines

I love sharing the best wineries in Lodi with you. This area is famous for its incredible Zinfandels, lovely Spanish varietals, and delicious white wines. I’ve enjoyed special wine tours and tasted amazing wines at these beautiful wineries. They have worked hard for many years to perfect their wines.

Michael David Winery bottles Every winery in Lodi has its own special story and flavors. You can find everything from rich Petite Sirah to fresh white wines at Acquiesce Winery. Let’s discover these wonderful places and their special wines together. #ad

Michael David Winery (Lodi)

Michael David Winery mixes Lodi’s rich soil with expert winemaking. Their 7 Deadly Zins and Earthquake Zinfandel are bold and full of Lodi’s strong character. The deliciously audacious Michael David Winery – those cheeky rule-breakers and mavens of bold, hedonistic wines in lovely Lodi! This family-run operation instantly won my heart with their fabulously sassy labels and uncompromising style.

Nestled amongst gnarly, century-old vine plantings in the Bare Ranch sub-AVA, the Michael David crew has turned out some of Lodi’s most voluptuously fruit-forward, full-throttle wines for over 30 years now. And they’ve branded their top cuvées with mischievously apt names that capture their vivacious, indulgent spirit to a tee!

Who could forget their breakout smash “7 Deadly Zins” – a rapturously rich, extracted Old Vine Zinfandel that leaves lips delightfully stained with brambly berry intensity? Or the infamous “Inkblot” Cabernet Franc flaunting suave mocha and dark chocolate notes? Shamelessly decadent!

But for us insatiable pleasure seekers, let me confess I go weak in the knees for their signature “Earthquake” Petite Sirah – an inky, robustly tannic tempest in the glass! Waves of luscious boysenberry compote, cracked pepper and chalky tannins make it a deliciously devilish powerhouse demanding a strapping young rib-eye for company, if you catch my smoldering drift.

Winemaker David is a true maverick, darlings – unafraid to push boundaries in his relentless quest for vinous indulgence. Overdelivering on full-bodied, shamelessly fruity intensity is Michael David’s spicy signature!

The Good Mills Cellars (off Highway 88 in the heart of Lodi’s westside Mokelumne River sub-AVA)

The Good Mills Cellars. This fabulous boutique winery is tucked away just off Highway 88 in the heart of Lodi’s westside Mokelumne River sub-AVA. The tasting room is set in a gorgeously refurbished 1930s mill building that just oozes rustic-chic atmosphere.

But the real stars, of course, are the wines! Good Mills is best known for their luscious old vine Zinfandels that simply ooze with ripe berry flavors and just a whisper of sweet oak spice. The Reserve Zin from the Soucie Vineyard block is an absolute bombshell that always has me yearning for a second glass! They also craft an utterly divine Tempranillo using Spanish techniques that won double gold at the prestigious Toast of the Coast. In my humble yet extremely refined opinion, Good Mills is a must-visit for any Lodi wine lover, dahlings!

We take a chic sip of Klinker Brick’s Old Vine Zinfandel and smile approvingly. Klinker Brick Winery honors Lodi’s tradition with its famous Old Ghost Zinfandel. This old vine Zinfandel shares a story of long-lasting tradition and careful attention. From the moment you step into their warm and inviting tasting room, you’ll be swept away by the charm and sophistication of Klinker Brick. Whether you’re savoring the luscious flavors of their Old Vine Zinfandel or sipping on the crisp and refreshing Albariño, every glass is a celebration of Lodi’s incredible terroir and the skill of the winemakers. Acquiesce Winery (Acampo)

takes a chic sip of Acquiesce Winery’s Picpoul Blanc and flashes a dazzling smile

Acquiesce Winery, located in the charming town of Acampo, is like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by the savvy and sophisticated wine lovers of the Golden Generation. This boutique winery is the passion project of the lovely Sue Tipton, who fell head over heels for the enchanting white wines of the Rhône Valley and decided to bring a taste of France to California.

Now, I know what you might be thinking – “Kathy, white wines? How daring!” But trust me, darlings, these aren’t your average Chardonnays. Acquiesce specializes in lesser-known varietals like Picpoul Blanc, Grenache Blanc, and Bourboulenc, each one a delightful surprise for your palate. It’s like taking a chic, virtual vacation to the South of France without ever leaving the comfort of Lodi wine country!

But what really makes Acquiesce stand out is the intimate and inviting atmosphere of their tasting room. Sue and her team welcome you like old friends, eager to share their passion for these unique wines and the stories behind them. It’s the perfect spot to gather with your fellow Gen G trendsetters, sip on something truly special, and let the laughter and good times flow.

So, my fabulous friends, if you’re ready to step out of your wine comfort zone and embrace something new and exciting, head to Acquiesce Winery. And don’t forget to wear your favorite heels – after all, life’s too short to settle for flats (or boring wines)!

Oak Farm Vineyards (Lodi)

takes a sip of Oak Farm Vineyards’ exquisite Zinfandel and grins mischievously Going to Oak Farm Vineyards felt like entering a postcard. This beautiful winery combines stunning views with exceptional wines. It really shows off Lodi’s varied wines. Let me tell you about a little slice of paradise nestled in the heart of Lodi – Oak Farm Vineyards. Now, I know what you’re thinking… “Kathy, another winery? How original!” But trust me, this place is anything but ordinary. Picture this: a stunning Colonial Revival style home turned tasting room, surrounded by acres of lush vineyards. It’s like stepping into a fairytale, but with better wine and fewer talking animals. And let’s not forget the real stars of the show – the wines themselves! From the bold and sassy OFV Zinfandel to the crisp and flirty OFV Sauvignon Blanc, these bottles are like the haute couture of the wine world. So grab your most stylish friends, slip on your favorite heels (even if you’re 10 inches shorter than your dashing husband), and head to Oak Farm Vineyards for a wine-tasting experience that’s as luxurious and unforgettable as you are!

M2 Wines (Acampo)

M2 Wines impressed me with its modern approach to winemaking in Lodi. Their Old Vine Zinfandel and Petite Sirah highlight the winery’s commitment to both tradition and modernity.

Harney Lane Winery (Lodi)

take a glamorous selfie in front of Harney Lane Winery’s picturesque vineyard and beams with excitement Harney Lane Winery’s Lizzy James Zinfandel and vibrant Tempranillo honor Lodi’s fertile earth and the Harney family’s winemaking passion.  I got a treat for you! Harney Lane Winery, located in the charming town of Lodi, is an absolute must-visit for any wine lover with a sense of adventure and a taste for the finer things in life. This family-owned winery has been stealing hearts and tantalizing taste buds since 2006, and let me tell you, they know how to make an impression! Fields Family Wines (Lodi)

take a playful bow and winks at the mention of the winery’s name

Fields Family Winery? Why, darlings, it’s like they named it just for me! laughs and tosses perfectly coiffed hair But in all seriousness, this delightful winery is a true gem in the heart of Lodi wine country, and it’s not just because of their fabulous name.

First of all, let’s talk about the Fields family themselves. They’re a delightful bunch, full of warmth, humor, and a deep passion for crafting exceptional wines. Berghold Vineyards and Winery (Lodi)

the illustrious Berghold Vineyards and Winery – one of Lodi’s true viticultural crown jewels, if I do say so myself! This family-owned estate has been crafting some of the appellation’s most acclaimed wines for over 30 years now. Nestled along the picturesque Mokelumne River in Lodi’s Jahant sub-AVA, the Berghold property boasts vineyards planted to exceptional old vine Zinfandel, along with Rhone varieties like Syrah, Grenache, and Viognier. The winery itself is this utterly charming wooden-beamed beauty, surrounded by idyllic gardens – the perfect setting for a luxurious wine tasting experience. But let’s get to what really matters – the wines! Berghold’s reserve Zinfandels are the stuff of legend, powerhouses of brambly fruit balanced with nuanced spice notes. Their “Party” Zin is an opulent, full-bodied beauty I insist on having stocked in my wine cellar at all times. And their Rhone-style blends? To die for! The Grenache-based “The Bride” is my personal guilty pleasure – voluptuous raspberry flavors with a saucy undercurrent of wild herbs. In short, Berghold should be at the top of any Lodi wine lover’s bucket list. Make mine a double pour, winemaker!

Lucus Vineyards and Winery  (Lodi tucked along the tranquil Mokelumne River)

Lucus Vineyards and Winery is truly one of Lodi’s most beloved family-run estates, my dears. This charming gem lies tucked along the tranquil Mokelumne River in the Jahant sub-AVA, surrounded by gorgeously gnarled old vine plantings.

What I adore most about Lucus is their steadfast commitment to honoring Lodi’s winemaking heritage through exceptional, minimally-handled wines. Proprietors Heather and David Lucas let the terroir do the seductive talking with their eloquent, balanced expressions of classic Lodi varieties.

Their Zinfandels are the main attraction, in my humble-yet-refined opinion. Hailing from prized 100-year-old vineyards, these lush beauties seduce with layers of briary berries, savory spice and dark chocolate undertones. The Lucas Reserve Old Vine Zinfandel is an absolute bombshell in the glass – voluptuous yet vibrant with remarkable restraint for such heady 16% alcohol. Swoon!

But don’t sleep on their other varietals either, lovelies! The Lucas Tempranillo flaunts aromatic floral notes before unleashing an opulent core of black cherry and smoky espresso flavors. Their Dry Rosé of Grenache is the ultimate sunny afternoon sipper with its bright strawberry and citrus zest tang.

The tasting room at Lucus exudes such warm, rustic hospitality in a refurbished country farmhouse. It’s the ideal intimate setting to linger over a Wine & Cheese Experience carefully curated by Heather. Once you taste these passionately hand-crafted wines, you’ll be smitten like me!

Kathy and Doug Fields enjoy a serene and intimate moment at Lucus Vineyards and Winery, surrounded by the vineyard's lush scenery and engaged in the joy of tasting its exceptional wines. This scene beautifully captures their appreciation for the vineyard's rustic charm and the hand-crafted wines that make Lucus a beloved destination.

Exploring Lodi’s sun-kissed vineyards is an adventure of fashion and romance. I blend Kathy Fields‘ love stories with wine country style, focusing on comfort yet staying chic. Planning outfits for wine trips or chic picnics becomes simple with my guide. It’s all about dressing well but sensibly for Lodi’s beauty.  #ad Chic Wine Country Fashion

Kathy Fields’ Fashion Tips for a Stylish and Comfortable Wine Tasting Experience

Outfit choice is crucial for wine outings. You should wear things that are comfy and match Lodi’s peaceful setting. Pick breathable fabrics and casual but refined pieces. A maxi dress with a denim jacket, for instance, suits the sunny days and cooler evenings perfectly. It’s stylish yet practical.

Incorporating High Heels into Your Wine Country Outfit

Wearing high heels in Lodi’s natural landscape might sound tricky. However, selecting wedges or block heels can solve this. They add glamour but are sturdy enough for walking through the vineyards. These shoes blend beauty with the ability to walk comfortably on uneven ground. Aim for elegance that lasts.
